Ultrasound Fellowship
Emergency Ultrasound
The emergency ultrasound program at the Department of Emergency Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center encourages the use of emergency ultrasound in the Emergency Department by using this valuable and life-saving technology in a timely and relevant manner. The goal of the emergency ultrasound program is to provide the knowledge, skills and facility to independently perform focused emergency ultrasounds by providing opportunities to gain experience in emergency ultrasound throughout residency. Dedicated two week ultrasound rotations are scheduled during the first and third years of residency, and additional opportunities to scan with the ultrasound faculty are available throughout the year.
The department offers a one year fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound in conjunction with the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Department of Emergency Medicine. The fellowship is designed to train emergency physicians in all aspects of emergency ultrasound including mastering the myriad applications of emergency ultrasound, providing clinical and didactic education for the clinical staff, research, and emergency ultrasound administration.
