FDNY EMS Fellowship
Application Information Sheet

General Information

  • Considered one of the premier fellowships in EMS and Disaster Medicine in the world.
  • Fellowship ongoing since 1993.
  • 2 Fellows selected annually
  • 1-year Fellowship 
  • Salary from the FDNY is approximately $100K / year.
  • Salary for clinical time is additional.

Application Qualifications (by start of Fellowship)

  • Completion of a Residency in Emergency Medicine
    (Board Certification or Eligibility in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine).
  • Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in New York State.
  • Possession of a valid DEA registration number.

Clinical Affiliation

  • The FDNY EMS Fellowship is affiliated with the Long Island Jewish Medical Center's (LIJMC) Department of Emergency Medicine.
  • Fellows are expected to work as an Attending in the Emergency Department at LIJMC and to participate in the Emergency Medicine Residency conference and activities.

  • Three (3) letters of reference (one from Residency Program Director)

Application Timeline (subject to alteration)

  • Application materials must be received by October 15. 
  • Interviews conducted in September and October.
  • Selection of Fellows by November 15.
